Zimbabwe vs France- Comparison
France has a population of 66.2million people and Zimbabwe a population of 14.6million. It is easy to see that France is more populous meaning that the population density of France is 120 compared to Zimbabwe’s 38. This shows that more births and immigrations are directed to France than Zimbabwe; but in this it is best to consider the total geographical area (TGA) of both counties to size up a plausible comparison. France’s TGA is 640,679 {km2} meaning that it is almost double Zimbabwe’s 390,757 {km2}, these statistics show that France is more populous both in numbers and area. So yes France clearly has more people, but this doesn’t mean they are all employed. France has an unemployment rate of 10.5% which is quite bad, but compared to Zimbabwe’s 70% it is nothing. The people who are employed earn a GDP of 42,503 USD in France, where in Zimbabwe they only earn a GDP of 953 USD. This is a shocking difference and this statistic is related to the percentage of people below the poverty line. Zimbabwe has 68% of its population living below the internationally recognised poverty line, where only 7.8% of France’s population is living the same reality. It looks like France is a much better country all round, which in some aspects is true but France has a prevailing obesity rate in adults which is 18.2% compared to Zimbabwe’s 7%. This is not discriminative against the amount of people without access to food in Zimbabwe or in France, but it is simply showing the excess amounts of food being consumed by a wealthy country compared to a poor one. The type of governments are contrasted between the two countries; France is a unitary semi-presidential constitutional republic where Zimbabwe is a Dominant-party presidential republic. France’s government is closer to a democracy than Zimbabwe’s, this being because of Zimbabwe’s domination by one corrupt government party. France’s CPI is 69 compared to Zimbabwe’s 21 which is shockingly low. This shows how corrupt Zimbabwe’s government is compared to France’s. So overall France is a wealthier, more populous and better governed country. This is because it is more developed in all aspects and therefore is better. Zimbabwe is a developing country which means it will take many years to develop into a country which is similar to France, this is if it breaks free from the thresholds of its government and economic problems.
